July Member of the Month FE Side.jpg

Meet Bill Sekermestrovich, our July Member of The Month

How long have you been a member of Fitness Experience?

I was one of the first few members along with my lifting partner Harlan Neal to sign up in a semi-trailer in the parking lot when it was Gold’s Gym 20 some years ago.

What has been your most memorable achievement since joining Fitness Experience?

When I first joined Fitness Experience I had already started competing in the bench press. I achieved 3 World Championships and 18 World Records in a 10 year period of competing in WABDL. All of my achievements were drug-free.

What advice would you offer someone who is just starting out?

For people just starting out, I would suggest 2-3 times a week. Get a trainer to show you how to use the equipment. Pick days that will work for you in a week. The most important thing is for you to do this for at least 1-2 months, so it becomes a habit. Even when you don’t feel like it sometimes, do it anyway, you will feel better after.

Tell us about yourself:

I worked at Pacific Auto Body for 29 years and have been retired for the past 15 years. My wife is a member of Fitness Experience as well. We have two grown girls. We also enjoy camping and riding ATVs.

Senior Member of the Month

Meet John Brentlinger, our Senior Member of the Month.

How long have you been a member at Fitness Experience?
I joined Fitness Experience about 12 years ago. I had to stop swimming 10 years ago when my shoulder said to do something else. I decided to make up the swimming time by spending more time at the gym.

What has been your most memorable achievement since joining Fitness Experience?
I have been able to keep up a fairly active lifestyle. I believe the program I follow at FE has made this possible. I have had medical procedures that have slowed me down but the workouts before and after have allowed me to stay active. I have met lots of nice people at FE. They are always encouraging and offer good advice.

What is one fitness goal you would like to accomplish this year?
My goal this year, like the past years, is to slow the advance of old age.

What are some of your hobbies?
I like to go fishing with friends. We often drift down the Willamette. I also chase a little white ball around a grassy field and beat on it with a club. Now and then I go to a shooting range and try to punch holes in the center of a target. Targets move I think. In the afternoon, I usually try to spend an hour reading.
